Policenauts Review & Interview with Marc Laidlaw

police1

I’ve been dying to review Policenauts for months, but wanted to try something slightly different since it was an unpaid, unofficial, translation team that took on the job of translating this Japanese cult classic into English. I managed to track down Marc Laidlaw, the lead translator on the project, who was generous in answering some questions I had about the game and the localization process.

The editors and writers of 4colorrebellion were gracious in offering me a space for such a wonderful interview. Specifically, I wish to thank my friend Jamie Love for his hard work in setting me up over at 4CR, and putting together the entire article in its final form. Head over to my 4colorrebellion article to read the entire inter-review.

Oh, that was you who did the interview? I didn’t notice at all when I read it there earlier today, heh heh.

How much time would you say the game would take up? I’m thinking I’ll save it later if it’s a substantially long game for when I have time to dig in.

    Hi Jill -
That sure was me, although I am greatly indebted to Jamie Love of 4CR for convincing their staff to allow me to post it over there :) Not to mention the hard work he put into the article layout and images. In fact, I better update my post with that information :)

According to my last save file, the game took me 11 hours to complete. I’d say the game is probably 10-15 hours in terms of length. Not too long for the average adventure gamer!
